Coat of arms of Iran
35,00 € *
ggf. zzgl. Versand

The coat of arms of Iran since the 1979 Iranian Revolution features a stylized Perso-Arabic script of the word Allah. The logo consists of four crescents and a sword. The four crescents are meant to stand for the word Allah. The five parts of the emblem symbolize the Principles of the Religion. Above the sword is a shadda: in Arabic script, this is used to double a letter. The shape of the emblem is chosen to resemble a tulip, for the memory of the people who died for Iran: it is an ancient belief in Iran, dating back to mythology, that if a young soldier dies patriotically a red tulip will grow on his grave. In recent years it has been considered the symbol of martyrdom. The logo was designed by Hamid Nadimi, and was officially approved by Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini founder of Islamic Republic of Iran on May 9, 1980. The logo is encoded in Unicode, in the Miscellaneous Symbols range, at codepoint U+262B under the name "FARSI SYMBOL". It is unclear why it was included in Unicode 1.0 since technically it is a logo, not a character. It is not used in Persian text and is not referred to as "Persian symbol" outside of the Unicode standard

The City of Qushmarrah is uneasy under the rule of the Herodians - short, balding men whose armies would never have conquered the city had not the great and evil wizard Narkar been killed and sealed in his citadel; had not the savage nomad Datars turned coat and sided with the invaders; had not some traitor opened the fortress to them. Not many would welcome the return of the old religion, the bloody return of wizardry - but there are some patriots who would accept the return of the devil they know, if it meant the return of independence. 1. Swift's allegorical satire about religion and politics follows the lives of three brothers, Martin, Peter, and Jack, each of who represents a faction of the Christian faith - Anglicanism, Roman Catholicism, and the dissenting faiths, respectively. Each brother inherits a coat (representing religious practice) from their father (God) on the condition that they do not change it. But instead the three quarrelsome youths disobey their father and change their coats beyond recognition. A Tale of a Tub was Swift's first major work and was considered a personal favorite by the author. In this book, Bishop Theriault recalls the different phases of Bishop Vilatte's ministry in Canada, the United States, and Europe. He puts in evidence, while leaning on historical documents, the determining role that he played in the development of a new concept of the purpose of organized religion, a new idea of Christianity, the Church, and its mission. Intermixed in the course of events appear collaborative forces from which he benefited, and also the numerous difficulties arising from powers opposed to his ministry. Frightening difficulties, capable of shaking the strongest soul, which he surmounted because of his faith, in pursuit of the goal inscribed upon his episcopal Coat of Arms: To God alone honor and glory.
